What is Icetro by Taylor?

Icetro by Taylor is a line of gravity-fed soft serve machines distributed and supported through Taylor's authorized distributor network. Designed for straightforward daily operation, the lineup offers a more economical entry point into soft serve while preserving access to Taylor's service, parts and technical expertise. Because most of its ten models correspond to a familiar Taylor soft serve machine, evaluating them side by side is unusually simple.

The Icetro by Taylor lineup at a glance

Every Icetro soft serve machine is gravity fed, capacity ranges from low to high, and three of the ten models include heat treatment.

Each Icetro model and its Taylor counterpart

ISI-161TH and ISI-161TI: compact countertop soft serve

The smallest models in the lineup are single-flavor units only 11.8 inches wide that operate on standard 115-volt power, making either one a practical compact soft serve machine for coffee shops and cafes with limited space. The two differ only in heat treatment, which the ISI-161TH includes and the ISI-161TI omits. Both are comparable to the Taylor C152.

ISI-163TT: countertop twin twist

This countertop soft serve machine dispenses two flavors plus a twist from twin 5.9-quart hoppers, producing 7 to 8 three-ounce servings at a time on 230-volt single-phase power. Its Taylor counterpart is the Taylor C161 twin twist.

ISI-203SN and ISI-203SNN: freestanding twin twist

These freestanding twin twist models feature dual 10.1-quart hoppers and 12 to 14 servings of dispensing capacity. The ISI-203SN requires single-phase power and a 30-amp breaker, whereas the ISI-203SNN runs on three-phase power with an 18-amp minimum. Both are comparable to the Taylor C723 with a cart or the Taylor C791.

ISI-300TA and ISI-301TH: high-capacity countertop

Both single-flavor countertop models combine an 18.5-quart hopper with a 3.4-quart cylinder. The ISI-300TA corresponds to the Taylor C707, a countertop ice cream machine model, while the ISI-301TH corresponds to the C709. The ISI-301TH adds heat treatment, matching the C709, which makes it the stronger choice for operators who want longer intervals between full cleanings.

ISI-303SNA: high-capacity twin twist floor model

The largest Icetro model pairs dual 19-quart hoppers with dual 3.6-quart cylinders, delivering 23 to 25 servings on three-phase power. Taylor compares it to two of its twin twist models, the C713 soft serve machine and the C794. With its freestanding design, the ISI-303SNA is the most capable floor model soft serve machine in the Icetro lineup.

ISI-271SHSN and ISI-271THSN: heat treatment single flavor, no direct Taylor equivalent

These high-capacity single-flavor models are built for self-serve and semi-automatic vending, and both include heat treatment; the ISI-271SHSN is freestanding, and the ISI-271THSN fits on a countertop. Taylor has no equivalent because its lineup doesn't include self-serve vending machines, which makes these two models a distinctive option for locations where customers serve themselves.

Icetro or Taylor: how to choose

Every Icetro by Taylor ice cream machine and every Taylor model is sold and supported through Taylor distributors, so the decision depends on your menu, volume and available power rather than on service access. Icetro suits operators seeking a gravity-fed frozen yogurt machine or soft serve machine at a lower starting cost, while Taylor offers heat treatment across more models and pump machines for higher overrun and output, a capability no Icetro model provides.

Before choosing, consider your peak hourly servings, the electrical service at your location, whether heat treatment would reduce labor, and whether you plan to serve shakes. Our guides on what size soft serve machine you need, pump vs. gravity and heat treatment explore each factor in detail.

If you have been comparing soft serve ice cream machine countertop options and assumed Taylor soft serve machines were beyond your budget, Icetro deserves consideration. If you already want a full-featured Taylor soft serve ice cream machine, the comparisons above clarify what each upgrade provides.
